Asteroid Bennu

Asteroid Bennu is located some 100 million miles from Earth. It is discovered in 1999 and is classified as a potentially hazardous asteroid.
The asteroid will reach a close proximity with Earth in September 2135. However, the chances of it impacting the Earth is 1 in 2,700. The scientists are using the data and sample from the NASA spacecraft OSIRIS-REx to assess how the asteroidÂ’s future trajectory will be influenced by the EarthÂ’s gravity and the phenomenon known as the Yarkovsky effect, the force acting on a rotating body in space caused by anisotropic emissions of thermal photons.
