Atal Innovation Mission- Sirius Innovation Programme 3.0 

The Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) and Scientific International Research in Unique Terrestrial Station (Sirius), Russia have recently launched ‘AIM–Sirius Innovation Programme 3.0’.  It is a 14-day virtual programme for Indian and Russian school children.

Background

This programme is jointly held between AIM and SIRIUS on the basis of a Memorandum of Understanding signed during PM Modi’s visit to Russia in 2018. In the year 2019, an Indian delegation of 25 students and 5 teachers visited the Sirius Centre, Russia for a 7-day research-based programme. The team had created 8 different innovations in the areas of remote earth sensing, clean energy, biological and genetic research, data analytics and frontier technologies, drones and robotics.

Highlights

The programme is being held between November 7, 2020 and November 21, 2020. This year, around 48 students and 16 educators will participate in the programme. The students would develop innovations from the field of block chain, artificial intelligence and machine learning.

AIM–Sirius programme

This is the first Indo-Russian bilateral youth innovation initiative. The programme seeks to develop web-based and mobile-based technological solutions for both the countries. This year’s event  comprise of the best Russian students from the Sirius Centre and the best Indian students and ATL in-charges from the top 150 teams of the 2019 ATL Marathon. Mentors from the industry and academia will work closely with the teams. The programme will create 8 virtual products and mobile applications that will address global challenges in the covid-19 pandemic situation. The application will cover the areas including culture, distance education, health and well-being, applied cognitive science, chemistry, sports, fitness, games training, , artificial intelligence and digital financial assets.
