This initiative has been launched by the government of Gujarat’s “Women and Child Development Welfare department.” This scheme was launched under the campaign titled ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao.’ This scheme was initiated in the villages named Maska, Kunaria, Vadsar, and Motagua. The central government’s Ministry of Women and Child Development also has plans to implement the girl panchayat initiative across the nation.
People from which age group manage the Balika Panchayat?
The people who are aged between 11 to 21 manage the Balika Panchayat. They work to enhance the political as well as social development of a girl child. The panchayat also looks to remove various types of evil practices that are prevalent in society such as the dowry system and child marriage. The members of this panchayat are nominated in a similar manner as Gram panchayat.
