Bosphorus Strait

The Bosporus Strait is a waterway in northwestern Turkey that is a part of the international boundary between Europe and Asia. Also known as the Strait of Istanbul, the waterway divides Turkey by separating Antolia and Thrace. It is the worldÂ’s narrowest strait used for international navigation. The strait connects the Black Sea with the Sea of Marmara.
Kanal Istanbul, an under-construction canal, is being developed by Turkey parallel to the Bosphorus Strait. It goes against the spirit of Montreux Convention, an multilateral treaty that governs the Bosphorus Strait.
