Clean Green Village Week

Between 29th October, 2021 and 4th November, 2021 Clean Green Village Week was celebrated. Under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act, this week was celebrated.


As part of the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, this week was celebrated. Approximately 1,970 state and union territory events were held during Clean Green Village Week. Of these, about 2,597 waste-to-wealth initiatives have been completed. In addition, 8,887 soak pits and 2,262 compost pits were constructed.

Objective of this week

The Ministry of Rural Development conducted the Clean Green Village Week. During the week, the ministry advised Gram Panchayat to take a cleanliness initiative. The ministry created an awareness of the importance of cleanliness in the area. The ministry also encouraged Gram Panchayat to take initiatives to improve their lives. The ministry also focused on the construction of schools and toilets in Anganwadi, village drainage canals, landfill pits, seepage canals, stable ponds and organic fertilizers.

Focus point of this week

Clean Green Village Week focuses on identifying and building septic tanks as well as immersion pits which are porous wall chambers designed to allow water to penetrate the soil. Building earthworm compost and waste-to-wealth initiatives which include the recycling of non-biodegradable waste and the reuse of waste.
