Cure Salée

The Cure Salée is an annual festival involving the gathering of Tuareg and Wodaabe cattle herders in the tiny oasis town of Ingall in northern Niger. It is also called as Festival of the Nomads. It marks the end of the rainy season and it lasts for three days. It usually takes place in the last two weeks of September.
The festival takes place at the height of the rainy season, when the oasis has sufficient grass to support large herds of cattle. This region is famous for salt required for maintaining the health of the cattle. The event also acts as a social gathering for these people.
