Saline Gargle RT-PCR technology

The Saline Gargle RT-PCR technology was developed by the National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (NEERI) – an institution under the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR). The indigenously-developed technique is used for testing COVID-19 samples in a simple and cost-effective manner. It is patient-friendly technique that provides instant results. It is well-suited for rural and tribal areas as it requires little infrastructure support.
The Nagpur-based NEERAI had recently transferred the know-how of the Saline Gargle RT-PCR technique to the Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME) for the commercialization of the novel technique. The know-how was transferred on a non-exclusive basis so that the innovation is licensed to all capable parties.
