Union minister Nitin Gadkari flagged off a special `Kisan Rail’ from Nagpur carrying 205 tonnes of oranges to Delhi
Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari flagged off a special `Kisan Rail’ from Nagpur(Maharashtra) to Adarsh Nagar(Delhi). The train carries 205 tonnes of oranges.
Nagpur is famous for the oranges and the special train will halt at Katol, Narkhed, Pandhurna, Betul and Itarsi.
The move will financially help large number of farmers as orange Kisan Rail will cut the transportation cost.
A government has launched a website for orange farmers and traders for rake bookings.
The special Kisan train will have 12 VPU Rakes.
Kisan rail will be an asset for the orange and vegetable farmers in the region.
Purpose of Kisan Rail:
The purpose of the Kisan train is to double the farmer income. It will reduce the number of farmer suicide cases. With the help of the Kisan Rail, farmers will be able to make a profit by bringing products like fruits, flowers and vegetables from every corner of the country in a short time. If these things go by truck it will take more days . Kisan rail will save the time. The containers on this train are freezing. This means it will be mobile cold storage. This will reduce their losses.
Kisan Rail is transporting perishable goods like anar, capsicum, cauliflower, lemon, green chillies, iced-fish, live plants, eggs and other vegetables from Sangola, Pandharpur, Kopargaon, Pune, Daund, Nashik, Manmad etc in the Maharashtra. Farmers are getting the benefit of cheap and fastest mode of transport, are excited as the Kisan Rail is running thrice a week. It became popular among farmers of Maharashtra.
