The Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched nine highway projects and Ghar tak Fiber scheme in Bihar on September 21, 2020. Under the Ghar tak fibre Scheme, optical fibre services will be provided to households.

About Highway Projects

  • The Highway projects will construct 350 km of road.
  • The roads will be built at a cost of Rs 14,250 crores.
  • These roads will improve connectivity among people of Bihar,� Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh.
  • The road projects would also enhance convenience and economic growth in and around the state.

Background

The Prime Minister had announced special package for the state of Bihar in 2015. Ithe package included 75 projects of worth Rs 54,700 crores. Out of these 75 projects, 13 projects have been completed while 38 are at the implementation stage.

Optical Fibre Services in Bihar

The project is to be implemented Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology under the Ghar Tak Fibre Scheme. It will connect 45,945 villages in the state. The project thus enable the Digital revolution to reach even to the remote areas of Bihar.

Ghar Tak Fibre scheme

The scheme has been launched� to provide optical fibre enabled internet connections to every householdin the country concentrating on village and rural areas. PM Modi had said in his 74th�independence-day speech, that over 1.5 lakh village panchayats have received optical fiber connections after 2014 under the scheme. The scheme ensures digital connectivity under the Bharat Net programme.

Digital India Programme

The program has launched initiatives like Digital Locker System, Bharat Net, national scholarship portals, online registration systems, etc. in the country to bring digital revolution. The Government of India has planned to make �Digital Village� all across the country under the programme.
