Himalayan Serow

The Himalayan Serow is a medium size mammal with a large head, short legs, long ears and dark coat. It is also known as Capricornis sumatraensis thar and is a subspecies of the mainland serow. Its habitat is restricted to the Himalayas. They have herbivorous diet and are found between the altitudes of 2,000 metres and 4,000 metres. Recently, the Himalayan Serow had been spotted in Spiti, Himachal Pradesh for the first time.
