Increasing Crime Against Journalists

According to International Press Institute, global organisation to promote and protect the freedom of press and journalism practices, the crimes committed against journalists are increasing because of the failure of the inquiries. According to international organisation IPI, largest numbers of killings had in America. In these cases, the investigations regarding the cases were not progressing and became the main reason of impunity for crimes against the journalists. November 2 is the International day to end the impunity for crimes against journalists.

International Press Institute (IPI)

International Press Institute (IPI) is the worldwide organisation (non-profit) established in 1950, determined to protect and promote the freedom of press and strive for the betterment of the journalism practices. The headquarters is based in Vienna. Members of IPI include journalists, editors and media executives. Its members are spread through 120 countries in the world. IPI has the consultative status with the international organisations such as United Nations, United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural organisation (UNESCO) and Council of Europe. International Press Institute is also a member of the international network of non-governmental organisations i.e. International Freedom of Expression Exchange. In countries like Nepal and Azerbaijan, IPI’s membership have created National Committees that support IPI in its activities to upgrade the situation for media.

International Freedom of Expression Exchange (IFEX)

IFEX is the worldwide network of 119 and more Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs). IFEX is dedicated promote and protects the freedom of expression at regional as well as national and international levels. The international organisation is committed to defend and spread awareness about the freedom of expression as a human right.
