International Nurses Day

May 12 is observed as the International Nurses Day to commemorate the contribution of nurses to the welfare of societies. It falls on the birth anniversary of Florence Nightingale, an English nurse who founded the key pillars of modern nursing. Born in 1820, Nightingale founded the first formal training school for nurses. She was the first woman to receive the Oder of Merit 1907.
