IPC’s Section 124A

The Indian Penal Code’s Section 124A is a colonial era anti-sedition law. It belongs to part VI of the Code, which is concerned about the offenses against the government. Introduced in 1870, it was used during the British era against those calling for national independence. While it was upheld by the Supreme Court previously, the top court agreed to re-examine the constitutionality of the law.
