Jal Shakti Abhiyan: Catch The Rain

“Jal Shakti Abhiyan: Catch The Rain” is a campaign launched by the Indian government this year on the occasion the World Water Day (March 22). The objective of this on-going campaign is to collect rainwater by constructing artificial recharge structures, redeveloping existing water bodies, rejuvenating wetlands and rivers before the onset of monsoon. It also aims to create a national-level database focusing on all water bodies in India so as to improve the conservation efforts.

Minister of States for Jal Shakti Ratthan Lal Kataria urged all members of parliament to support this campaign in their respective constituencies and states. He called for the sensitisation of the overall public to collect and conserve rainwater during the monsoon.
