The Jan Samarth Portal was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 6th June 2022. This portal is about credit-linked government schemes. This launch has been done during the ‘Iconic Week Celebrations’ of the Ministry of Corporate Affairs and Ministry of Finance at Vigyan Bhawan.

What is this portal about?

This is a digital portal that links thirteen Credit Linked Government schemes on a single platform. Through this portal, the beneficiaries can check their eligibility digitally in a few simple steps. The beneficiaries can also apply online under the eligible scheme and receive digital approval. This portal has over 125 lenders and four loan categories. This portal is a first-of-its-kind platform that directly connects lenders to beneficiaries. The main purpose of this portal is to promote the development and growth of various sectors.

How will this portal help?

This portal will not only make the lives of entrepreneurs, students, farmers, businessmen, etc, easier but will also help them to fulfil their dreams. Through this portal, the citizens of the nation will be able to know which government scheme will benefit them the most and how to avail of it. This portal will also be playing a pivotal role in self-employment.

How can one apply for the scheme?

At present, there are four loan categories available:

  • Agri infrastructure loan
  • Education loan
  • Business activity loan
  • Livelihood loan

Various schemes have been listed under each loan category. For an individual’s loan category, one must check their eligibility by providing answers to a few questions. After becoming eligible under any scheme, the individual can select the scheme and apply online to receive digital approval. Anyone can apply for a loan after checking their eligibility.

What are the documents required?

For each scheme, there are different documentation requirements. To apply on the portal, the basic documents required are Voter ID, Aadhaar Number, Bank statements, PAN, etc.
