Kachin Independence Army

Kachin Independence Army is the armed militant group under the aegis of the Kachin Independence Organisation, a political faction of ethnic Kachins in northern Myanmar. It is funded by the KIO, which sources the money from regional taxes and exports of jade, timber and gold. On April 11 this year, it had attacked two police outposts and a military base near the Tarpein Bridge.
