Martyred Intellectuals Day
Martyred Intellectual Day is observed by Bangladesh on 14th December to mark the day of brutality when hundreds of intellectuals – teachers, doctors, journalists and others – were killed by Pakistani forces in Dhaka and other parts of the country in 1971. This incident took place just 2 days before Bangladesh got liberation from Pakistan on 16 December 1971. During this day, wreaths are placed at the Martyred Intellectual Memorial.
