National Hydrology Project

The National Hydrology Project was launched by the Ministry of Jal Shakti’s Department of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation with the financial assistance from the World Bank. This centrally sponsored scheme seeks to boost the extent of and accessibility to water resources information and strengthen institutional capacity to enable improved water resource management across the country.

The National Remote Sensing Centre (NRSC) is one of the implementing agencies under the NHP. It is currently conducting hydrological studies using satellite data and geospatial techniques. The NHP-Bhuvan Portal was launched recently. It contains information regarding the initiatives undertaken by the NRSC under this project.
