National Tribal Research Institute: Key Features
The National Tribal Research Institute (NTRI) will be inaugurated by Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi on 7th June 2022. This institute is being launched as part of the government’s ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ celebration by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs (MoTA). After its launch, an exhibition will be held that will showcase the achievements of the Tribal Affairs Ministry. Over 100 tribal dance troupes and artisans from across the country will be showcasing their performances and indigenous products.
What will be the primary function of the NTRI?
The NTRI will be a premier national-level institute that will become the nerve centre regarding tribal issues, concerns, and matters in the executive, academic, and legislative fields. The NTRI will be collaborating with reputed universities, research institutes, and organizations as well as resource centres and academic bodies. It will be monitoring projects of Centres of Excellence (CoEs), Tribal Research Institutes (TRIs), and research scholars of NFS and will be setting up various norms for improving the training and research quality.
What will be the secondary function of the NTRI?
The other functions of the NTRI would be providing policy inputs to the Ministry of Tribal Affairs as well as the other State Welfare Departments. It will also be designing programs and studies that will improve the socio-economic aspects of tribal lifestyles. It will also be creating and maintaining a Database of PMAAGY, providing guidelines to set up and run Tribal Museums, and will also be showcasing India’s rich tribal cultural heritage.
