Pacific football fish

Pacific football fish is a species of anglerfish that live in the Pacific at more than 3,000 feet below the surface of the Ocean, where the sunlight does not penetrate. These fishes feed on squids, crustaceans and other fishes using their esca – a fleshy phosphorous bulb that extends from its dorsal fins. This rarely-sighted fish was recently found on a beach in southern California.
