Vijaya Raje Scindia

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has released a commemorative coin of Rs 100 to mark the birth centenary of Rajmata Vijaya Raje Scindia , through a virtual ceremony. Vijaya Raje Scindia is widely known as the ‘Rajmata of Gwalior’.

12th October is the birth anniversary of Rajmata Vijaya Raje Scindia. On this special day, commemorative coin of ?100 has released by Modi.

The government has taken the initiatives of Nari Shakti, which helped in fulfilling Rajamata’s dreams of women empowerment.

Vijaya Raje Scindia

She was one of the founder member of the BJP party. The special coin has been minted by the Finance Ministry. Vijaya Raje Scindia dedicated her life for poor people.

She was a determined leader and a skilled administrator.

She was one of those who led India in the proper direction.

She witnessed every important phase of Indian politics be it the burning of foreign clothes, the Emergency, and the Ram Temple movement.

Coins minted in India

In 2017, Vice President Venkaiah Naidu had unveiled commemorative coins of Rs 100 and Rs 10 coins on the birth centenary of renowned musician M S Subbulakshmi.

It is to be noted that commemorative coins are issued to commemorate some particular event or issue with a different design reflecting the occasion on which they are issued. Many coins of this category serve as collectors’ items only, while some countries issue them for regular circulation. India has released commemorative coins on several occasions so far, starting from the coin released in 1964 to the coin released in 2019, representing Jallianwala Bagh Massacre.
