Pradhan Mantri National Apprenticeship Mela’: Important Facts

The Pradhan Mantri National Apprenticeship Mela was organized on 13th June 2022 by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship. Looking at the April month’s event’s success, it was decided that the event will be organized every month.

What is the aim of this mela?

The mela has been organized with the aim of providing the youth of the nation with additional opportunities regarding training within various corporates. They will also be provided employment opportunities. This programme also aims to encourage apprentice hiring, and will also be assisting employers to identify and develop the potential of the youths via training.

Where was the mela organized?

This event was organized in more than 200 locations across the country.

Who were the participants?

Over 1000 companies participated and they were from more than 36 diversified sectors. All those individuals participated having:

  • a pass certificate for the classes 5 to 12,
  • ITI Diploma,
  • Certificate for skill training
  • Graduate degree

The participants sat for interviews in various fields. The choices for candidates were more than 500 including electricians, welders, beauticians, housekeepers, etc.

What will the candidates receive after the completion of training?

After their training period ends, the candidates will be receiving apprenticeship certificates that the National Council for Vocational Education and Training (NCVET) will recognize. This certificate will act as an industry recognition stamp for the candidates.
