Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana

Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY) is a central sector scheme that was unveiled in August 2003 to address the imbalances in the availability of tertiary healthcare centres in India and enhance the medical education in the country. Under this initiative, several All Indian Institutes of Medical Sciences were established over the past years. Of the 22 new AIIMS approved by the Centre, 6 are fully functional.
