Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana
Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) is a social welfare scheme launched by the Central government in 2016 to enable smoke-free rural India. This scheme provides concessional LPG connections, especially for women living below poverty line. This is to help minimize health disorders, air pollution and deforestation. More than 14 crore free LPG cylinders were provided to the beneficiaries of the PMUY during the COVID-19.
