PRASHAD scheme

The PRASHAD (Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual, Heritage Augmentation Drive) is a central sector scheme that was launched to promote integrated and sustainable development of pilgrimage destinations. The flagship scheme is fully funded by the Central Government. Its key features include infrastructure development, easing connectivity and providing basic tourism facilities.
On August 20, PM Modi will be virtually inaugurating several projects in GujaratÂ’s Somnath. This include the development project of the 1.48 kilometre-long Somnath Promenade under the PRASHAD scheme. Other projects to be inaugurated include Somnath Exhibition Centre and reconstructed temple precinct of Old Somnath.
