PRASHAD scheme

The Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual, Heritage Augmentation Drive (PRASHAD) scheme was launched by the Union Tourism Ministry in 2014-15 to support the holistic development of India’s pilgrimage sites. The central sector scheme is fully funded by the Union Government. Under this scheme, the Tourism Ministry provides Central Financial Assistance to state governments for the development of identified destinations.
The objective of the scheme is to harness pilgrimage and heritage tourism destinations through infrastructure development, with greater emphasis on tourist facilities like tourist facilitation centers, way-side amenities etc. This, in turn, is expected to boost employment opportunities in these tourist destinations.
