´Raven’ missing from the Tower of London

Recently, the 14-year-old resident of the Tower of London, Raven, has been gone missing. The Raven, named Merlina, was the resident at the Tower of London since 2007. She got disappeared at the start of the year 2021 and has not been seen since then. In that light, the old prophecy about the kingdom of Great Britain is being discussed.

About Raven

Raven is one of several larger-bodied species. It belongs to the genus Corvus. It does not form a single taxonomic group within the genus. The “crows” and “ravens” cannot be differentiated consistently.  The largest raven species called as the common raven and the thick-billed raven.

Common raven

The common raven is known as the western raven or northern raven. This is a large all-black passerine bird. These birds are found across the Northern Hemisphere.

Thick-billed raven

This raven is a corvid from the Horn of Africa. This is the largest bird in the corvid family and the largest of the passerines.

Tower of London

It is officially called as the “Her Majesty’s Royal Palace” and “Fortress of the Tower of London”. It is a historic castle on the north bank of River Thames in central London. It was founded at the end of 1066 when the Norman Conquest England. The building was built by William the Conqueror in the year 1078. The building was a resented symbol of oppression. It was used as a prison. The tower is a complex of several buildings set. The buildings set are standing within two concentric rings of defensive walls and a moat.

The River Thames

The river flows through southern England including London. It is also known as River Isis. It is the longest river entirely in England. It is also the second-longest river in the United Kingdom. The river flows through Oxford where it is called the Isis. It heads towards Reading, Henley-on-Thames and Windsor. The lower river is called the Tideway. The river originates at Thames Head in Gloucestershire. The Greater London is drained by the river Thames.
