Sagarmala Young Professional Scheme: Highlights

The Sagarmala Young Professional Scheme has been formulated by the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways to engage forward-thinking, talented, and dynamic young professionals of the country in various divisions of the Shipping Ministry.

What will the scheme focus on?

This scheme will be focusing on ground learning for the selected young professionals. The selected professionals will be learning about how the government functions as well as matters related to developmental policy concerns. To meet the needs of the ministry, the professionals will be delivering high-quality inputs in areas like:

How will this scheme help?

The scheme will be fostering the active involvement of young professionals at the decision-making level. This will be contributing to contribute to social wellness, by boosting the selected professional’s self-esteem and will provide them with a sense of empowerment. Doing so will help in bringing benefits to the society like enhanced awareness regarding various common concerns and a joint resolution to identify long term solutions.

How many young professionals will be hired?

In the initial phase of this scheme, over 25 young professionals will be hired. They will be required to have relevant qualifications in the field of B. Planning, B.Tech, B.E and/or MBA or other equivalent degrees in the relevant field or subject. They must also have a minimum of three years of relevant work experience. The professionals in the field of Finance, Accountancy, Statistics, Legal, Commerce, Economics, and Data Analytics will also be engaged as per the requirements of the Ministry. The initial engagement period will be of 2 years with an additional 2 years extension provided on the basis of performance.
