Singapore India Maritime Bilateral Exercise or SIMBEX is a bilateral naval exercise that has been held since the year 1994. Since it was first initiated, this annual exercise has been expanded from just focusing on anti-submarine warfare to areas such as maritime security, anti-air and anti-surface warfare. It is said to be longest uninterrupted naval exercise that India has with any country.
The Indian Navy is to deploy four warships from its Eastern Fleet to South East Asia, the South China Sea and Western Pacific for a series of exercises that will be held over the next two months. One of these exercises is the SIMEX.
