Status of Leopard in India, 2018

The Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Prakash Javadekar released the “Status of Leopards in India, 2018”. According to this report, India has recorded a 60% increase in leopard population when compared to the previous estimate, which was conducted in 2014. The states with highest number of leopards are Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka and Maharashtra. Pattern recognition software was used to conduct this survey.
