UNSC passes resolution demanding end to Israeli settlement on occupied Palestinian territory
The UN Security Council (UNSC) has passed a resolution demanding Israel to stop building settlements on occupied Palestinian territory. The resolution was put forward at the 15-member council for a vote by New Zealand, Malaysia, Venezuela and Senegal. It demanded Israel to immediately and completely cease all settlement activities in toccupied Palestinian territory including East Jerusalem. It is the first resolution the Security Council has adopted on Israel and the Palestinians in nearly eight years. In response, Israel declared that it rejects this anti-Israel resolution and will not abide by its terms.
