Chief Justice of India

Chief Justice of India is the highest-ranking officer of the Indian federal judiciary. As the head of the Supreme Court, the CJI is responsible for allocating cases and appointment of the constitutional benches dealing with important legal matters. The appointment to this position is made by the President in accordance with Article 124(2) of the Constitution. Justice N V Ramana was recently appointed as the 48th Chief Justice of India.
