Herero and Nama genocide

Herero and Nama genocide took place during the Battle of Waterberg between the Herero and the colonial regime of Germany. It came as the result of a series of conflicts between Germany and rebelling Herero and Nama people.
On May 28 this year, Germany apologized for the mass killing of Herero and Nama tribes and officially recognized its actions as genocide for the first time. It offered a 1 billion USD compensation to atone for its actions in the years 1904-1908. Namibia’s parliament was stormed recently by protestors who deem the compensation to small and is objecting to their lack of involvement in the negotiations with Germany.
