Valles Marineris

Valles Marineris of Mars is the single largest canyon in the solar system. It is nearly ten times as long as Earth’s Great Canyon, spanning more than 2,500 miles (nearly quarter of Mars’ circumference) along the Martian equator. Recently, HiRISE (High Resolution Imaging Science Experiment) positioned aboard the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter was used by the University of Arizona scientists to take close-up shots of this canyon.
