Volatiles Investigating Polar Exploration Rover

Volatiles Investigating Polar Exploration Rover (VIPER) is a lunar rover that will be launched by NASA to probe the South Pole of the Moon and study the concentration of water ice to assess whether it would help in future human exploration missions. It is the first resource mapping mission on another celestial body
VIPER is expected to reach Nobile crater near the southern pole of the Moon in late 2023. Its size is almost equivalent to that of a golf cart and it weighs 430 kg. Since the Moon’s distance from the Earth is close, the rover will be operated in almost real-time.
