ANRF Launches PAIR Program to Boost Research Collaboration

The Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF) has recently launched the Partnerships for Accelerated Innovation and Research (PAIR) Program. This initiative aims to strengthen India’s research ecosystem by connecting universities and colleges with leading research institutions. The program supports 18 Hub institutions and 106 partnering Spokes, encouraging mentorship and collaboration. The chosen 18 Hub institutions are categorised into two groups – Category A consists of 7 Hubs with 45 Spokes, while Category B includes 11 Hubs with 61 Spokes.

The PAIR Program has several key objectives. It aims to stimulate scientific innovation in institutions with limited research capabilities. The initiative also seeks to support research that is internationally competitive and encourages productive collaborative networks. Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility for the PAIR Program is based on the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF). Hub institutions must fall within the top 25 NIRF rankings or be Institutions of National Importance ranked between 26 to 50. Spoke institutions include Central and State Public Universities within the 200 NIRF overall ranking and other designated categories. A minimum of two State Public Universities is mandatory for participation.

Expected Outcomes

The program is expected to bridge the gap between institutions and catalyse transformative research. By establishing vibrant PAIR networks, the initiative will involve faculties from multiple departments, promoting interdisciplinary research. Regional Diversity

To ensure inclusivity, at least one Spoke institution must be located outside the state of the Hub institution. This requirement promotes regional diversity and allows for a broader exchange of ideas and resources.
