International Day of the Victims of Enforced Disappearances

International Day of the Victims of Enforced Disappearances is observed on August 30 to pay tribute to the victims of enforced disappearance. It is observed by the international organizations to raise awareness about how enforced disappearance is a crime and should not be used during the conflicts.
The United Nations General Assembly officially proclaimed this day on December 21, 2010. The issue of enforced disappearance is observed across the world and not restricted to a particular region. It caused by arrests, detentions and abductions. It is used to create fear within a society and suppress it.
