pressurised water reactor
A pressurised water reactor (PWR) is a type of nuclear reactor. It uses water as both coolant and neutron moderator. PWRs operate under high pressure, preventing water from boiling. This design enhances safety and efficiency. India has adopted PWR technology for its nuclear power plants. The first indigenous PWR, KAPP-3, was commissioned in 2017. PWRs contribute significantly to India's energy security.
