The Indian Naval Ship (INS) Satpura and P8I Maritime Patrol Aircraft recently arrived in Darwin, Australia to join in the multinational naval exercise, Kakadu. This critical event is organized by the Royal Australian Navy.
About Exercise Kakadu
Exercise Kakadu is a joint-enabled exercise that takes place every other year. The event is hosted by the Royal Australian Navy, with support provided by the Royal Australian Air Force. Kakadu is significant as it is considered the navy’s premium maritime exercise. Its purpose is to enhance interoperability among nations, particularly in maritime and aerial domains. It also offers valuable training opportunities for maritime security and surveillance. The exercise traces its roots back to 1993 when it was first initiated.
Exercise Kakadu -22: An Overview
Exercise Kakadu -22 spans over two weeks and includes both harbour and sea components. The event attracts a significant number of ships and maritime aircraft from 14 different navies across the globe. Approximately 19 vessels, 34 aircraft and over 3000 personnel from 25 countries are predicted to participate in the event. The theme for this year’s exercise revolves around Partnership, Leadership, and Friendship.
