Revolutionizing India’s Education: NEP 2020

The National Education Policy 2020 (NEP 2020) marks a significant stride in India’s educational reforms. Introduced by the Central Government, it aims to reshape and revitalize the education system in the country. This policy arrives as the third major educational framework after its predecessors in 1968 and 1986. It addresses various aspects of education, from school to higher education, with an intention to make India a global knowledge superpower. Phasing Out of M Phil Programme

In a move to streamline postgraduate education, the NEP 2020 calls for the discontinuation of the Master of Philosophy (M Phil) program. The policy deems the one-year M Phil degree as redundant in the wake of the proposed changes to the higher education structure. This decision is aimed at simplifying the academic path to doctoral studies, making the transition from a master’s degree to a Ph.D. more direct.

The NEP 2020 represents a bold step towards redefining and enhancing the educational landscape in India.
