Adopt a Heritage 2.0 Program

On September 4, 2023, the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) will launch the “Adopt a Heritage 2.0 program” alongside the Indian Heritage app and an epermission portal. This initiative, known as “Adopt a Heritage: ApniDharohar, ApniPehchaan,” is a collaborative effort between the Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of Culture, and ASI, initially introduced on September 27, 2017. The scheme’s primary goal is to enhance tourism by allowing public and private entities, referred to as “Monument Mitras,” to manage popular heritage sites for five years. This comprehensive program covers 106 tourist destinations and promotes the preservation and development of India’s cultural treasures.

  • Monument Mitras: These are individuals, corporations, and public sector firms participating in the “Adopt a Heritage” program. They adopt heritage sites to improve and maintain them, enhancing the tourist experience.
