Advancing Smart Mobility: Launch of Indigenous Technologies at 11th Traffic Expo

The 11th Traffic Expo and Smart Mobility Conference witnessed a significant stride in the realm of transportation technology with the launch of three indigenously developed innovations. This article provides insights into these groundbreaking technologies aimed at revolutionizing industrial applications and intelligent transportation systems.

The Innovations Unveiled

Three cutting-edge technologies took the spotlight at the event:

1. CMOS Sensor based Camera for Industrial Vision Applications (iViS): This indigenous technology is designed for automated inspection and object identification. It is equipped to support artificial intelligence (AI) applications that harness the power of machine learning and deep learning techniques.

2. Thermal Sensor based Camera (TvITS): This AI-powered thermal sensor-based smart vision camera is tailored for road traffic applications. It has the capability to provide data on both stationary and moving objects with remarkable accuracy, even in complete darkness and all weather conditions. The modular design ensures ease of operation and lens customization as per specific requirements.

3. Online Sucro Crystal Imaging System (OSIS): OSIS is a revolutionary system developed using industrial cameras for measuring crystal size in sugar industries. This technology addresses a critical quality parameter crucial for the sugar industry.

Launch Ceremony

The unveiling of these technologies was carried out by Shri S Krishnan, Secretary of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY). The event was graced by the presence of Smt. Sunita Verma, Group Coordinator R&D in E&IT, MeitY, Smt. Mangala Chandran, Editor-in-chief of Traffic Infra-Tech Expo, and senior officials from both government and industry.

A Vision for Intelligent Transportation Systems

These technologies are the result of the Intelligent Transportation System Endeavor for Indian Cities initiative, an ambitious project led by the Ministry. The aim is to integrate technology into transportation systems to make them more efficient, safe, and adaptable to the unique challenges of Indian cities.

Advancing Automation and AI

The iViS technology, with its CMOS sensor-based camera, marks a significant step toward automating inspection and object recognition. By supporting AI applications, it opens the door to innovative uses of machine learning and deep learning techniques in industrial settings.

Enhancing Road Traffic Solutions

The TvITS technology is poised to revolutionize road traffic applications. With its AI-powered thermal sensor-based camera, it can provide real-time data on both stationary and moving objects, even in challenging conditions. This innovation promises to enhance road safety and traffic management.

Boosting Quality in Sugar Industries

The OSIS system addresses a specific need in the sugar industry by employing industrial cameras for crystal size measurement. By ensuring the quality of sugar production, it contributes to the efficiency and competitiveness of this vital sector.
