Andhra Pradesh Approves Major Engineering Projects for Amaravati

The Andhra Pradesh government has approved engineering projects aimed at transforming Amaravati into a world-class capital. The cabinet sanctioned two projects worth ₹2,723 crore, including a green ammonia manufacturing facility and an integrated energy project. The funding will come from international and national financial institutions.

Project Details

The approved projects include a 1 million tonne per annum green ammonia facility by AM Green Ammonia (India) Pvt Ltd in Kakinada. This facility is a part of the state’s initiative to promote sustainable energy. Additionally, Clean Renewable Energy Hybrid Three Way Ltd will establish a solar hybrid and battery storage facility in Nandyal and Kadapa districts. This facility will combine 119 MW of wind and 130 MW of solar energy.

Investment and Employment

Tata Power Renewable Energy has also received approval to build a 400 MW solar energy facility. This project is expected to attract ₹2,000 crore in investments and create 1,380 jobs. Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) plans to set up 500 compressed biogas plants with a total capacity of 11,000 tonnes. This initiative will bring in ₹65,000 crore in investments and generate 2.5 lakh jobs.

Government Support and Financial Aid

The Andhra Pradesh cabinet brought into light the support from the World Bank, Housing and Urban Development Corporation (HUDCO), and Germany. The state aims to revitalise Amaravati after previous neglect. The current administration is actively seeking to attract industrialists to invest in the region.

Prime Minister’s Upcoming Visit

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Visakhapatnam on January 8. During his visit, he will lay the foundation for the NTPC green hydrogen hub, which is expected to bring in ₹65,370 crore in investments. The PM will also inaugurate the ₹1,518 crore Krishnapatnam Industrial Hub and establish the Visakhapatnam railway zone.
