In a significant step towards educating India’s youth about the unsung heroes of the Indian freedom struggle, Union Minister Anurag Thakur unveiled the trailer of “KTB- Bharat Hain Hum,” an animated series spanning two seasons. Produced by the Information and Broadcasting Ministry’s Central Bureau of Communication, in collaboration with Graphiti Studios, this series comprises 52 episodes, each lasting 11 minutes, and promises to be a game-changer in the realm of historical education.
The animated series is hosted by beloved characters Krish, Trish, and Balti boy, aiming to make history accessible and engaging for the younger generation. What sets “Bharat Hain Hum” apart is its commitment to shedding light on lesser-known yet significant contributors to the freedom struggle, individuals often neglected by the traditional education system. Minister Thakur emphasized that this series aims to inspire younger generations by spotlighting the stories of those who played pivotal roles in shaping modern India.
One of the key highlights of this series is its focus on the often-overlooked contributions of women and tribal freedom fighters in the battle against colonial rule. This emphasis on inclusivity and diversity enriches the narrative, offering a more holistic understanding of India’s struggle for independence.
To ensure widespread accessibility, “Bharat Hain Hum” will be broadcast simultaneously on Doordarshan, Netflix, and Amazon Prime. This strategic move is aimed at reaching a broader audience, transcending language barriers, and taking these invaluable stories to a global platform.
Minister Thakur announced that this educational masterpiece would be screened for all parliamentarians during the upcoming session, emphasizing its significance in the nation’s historical education landscape. Furthermore, Apurva Chandra, the I&B Secretary, highlighted that this venture marks the first time that the Central Bureau of Communication, typically associated with expenditure, is actively seeking to generate revenue, showcasing its commitment to promoting historical and educational content.
Behind the creation of this remarkable series are the dedicated efforts of over a thousand individuals, according to Munjal Shroff, one of the creators from Graphiti Studios. The scale of workmanship involved in “Bharat Hain Hum” is awe-inspiring. While a standard animation show usually features 25 to 30 characters and around 40 backgrounds, each episode of this series boasts 50 to 100 characters and an average of 50 backgrounds, underlining the meticulous attention to detail.
In a testament to India’s linguistic diversity and its global outreach, “Bharat Hain Hum” will be produced in 12 Indian languages and dubbed in French, Spanish, Russian, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, and Korean. The first season is set to premiere on October 15, 2023, and run until January 7, 2024, with the second season following from January 28, 2024, to April 21, 2024.
