ASI to Undertake Conservation of Bibi Ka Maqbara

The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) is planning to undertake a project for the scientific conservation of Bibi Ka Maqbara, one of the significant Mughal-era historical sites. Located in Aurangabad, Maharashtra, this 17th-century monument holds great historical and architectural value.

Unveiling The Rich History of Bibi Ka Maqbara

Bibi Ka Maqbara is often acclaimed as the ‘Taj of the Deccan’ owing to its striking resemblance to the famous Taj Mahal. Both these historical monuments showcase the grandeur and glory of the Mughal architecture and their love for intricate marble work.

This monument was commissioned by Emperor Aurangzeb in 1660 to commemorate his beloved wife Dilras Banu Begum. The edifice serves as a reminder of the profound love and adulation shared between the royal couple. Architecturally, the monument exudes magnificence with its beautiful domes, towering minarets, and exquisite marble screens inside the structure, all made of pristine white marble.
