AUSINDEX Maritime Exercise

The fifth iteration of the biennial AUSINDEX maritime exercise took place from August 22 to 25, 2023, between the Indian Navy and the Royal Australian Navy (RAN) in Sydney. AUSINDEX-23, conducted since 2015, focuses on enhancing interoperability, sharing best practices, and fostering a joint understanding of procedures for Maritime Security Operations. Indian Navy ships INS Sahyadri and INS Kolkata participated alongside RAN’s HMAS Choules and HMAS Brisbane. The exercise involved fighter aircraft, maritime patrol aircraft, and integral helicopters. Notable bilateral and multilateral exercises between India and Australia include Ex AUSTRA HIND, EX PITCH BLACK, Malabar Naval Exercise, and Quad.
