Bangladesh – Country of focus at 51st IFFI
The 51st edition of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) is set to be held from January 16 to 24, 2021. This year, Bangladesh will be the focus country at IFFI.
- The status of Country of focus at IFFI means a special segment will be there in the festival recognizing the excellence of the country in cinema and its contributions.
- As Bangladesh has been chosen as the focus country for the 51st IFFI, four films from the country will be showcased at the festival.
- The four selected films to be showcased are- Zahidur Rahim Anjan’s Meghmallar; Tanvir Mokammel’s Jibondhuli; Rubaiyat Hossain’s Under Construction and Sincerely Yours, Dhaka by Syed Ahmed Shawki, Rahat Rahman Joy, NuhashHumayun, GolamKibriaFarooki, MD RobiulAlam, Mir Mukarram Hossain, Mahmudul Islam, Tanvir Ahsan, Abdullah Al Noor, Syed Saleh Ahmed Sobhan and Krishnendu Chattopadhyay.
The International Film Festival of India (IFFI) was founded in the year 1952. It is a significant film festival in Asia. The festival is held annually in Goa. IFFI is jointly conducted by the Goa State Government and the Directorate of Film Festivals (under Ministry of Information and Broadcasting). IFFI provides a platform for the cinemas around the world to showcase the film art excellence; understanding and appreciating of film cultures of different countries as well as promoting friendship among people of the world.
