Bharat Parv 2023: Highlighting Indian Culture and Unity

India’s government is preparing to host the much-anticipated “Bharat Parv” event, a six-day extravaganza that aligns with the Republic Day celebrations. Bharat Parv, an annual event since 2016, has been customarily held on the lawns and Gyan Path in front of Red Fort. However, the 2021 event was held virtually due to pandemic restrictions. The upcoming 2023 celebration is set to occur from January 26 to 31.

Key Features of Bharat Parv

The responsibility for organizing Bharat Parv falls under the Ministry of Tourism, designated as the nodal ministry for this event. An array of attractions is scheduled, including a food festival, a handicraft fair, folk and tribal dance shows, cultural troupe performances, and a display of Republic Day tableaux. Additionally, spectators can expect the impressive sight of the Red Fort being illuminated.

During the festivities, several campaigns will be leveraged for branding and promotion purposes. These include Dekho Apna Desh, Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat, G20, and Mission LIFE.

Bharat Parv not only celebrates India’s unity in diversity but also aims to position the country as a hub of civilization, culture, spirituality, and heritage for the next quarter-century of Amrit Kaal. The event strongly reinforces the Vocal for Local motto by inviting artisans from different corners of the country to showcase their skills.

Related Campaigns

The ‘Dekho Apna Desh’ initiative was launched by the Ministry of Tourism in January 2020. This campaign aims to foster awareness among Indian citizens about the country’s rich heritage and vibrant culture. It encourages domestic travel, urging people to explore their own country.

Launched in 2015, ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ aims to foster engagement among people from different states and union territories. The objective is to enhance mutual understanding, thereby fostering a stronger unity and integrity within the diverse gamut of Indian cultures.

Following the financial crisis that primarily affected East Asia and Southeast Asia in the late 1990s, the G20 was formed in 1999. Today, India leads the presidency of the organization that seeks to secure global financial stability by involving middle-income countries.

India introduced the concept of LiFE during the 26th United Nations Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26) held in Glasgow in 2021. LiFE promotes an environmentally conscious lifestyle, encouraging ‘mindful and deliberate utilization’ over ‘mindless and wasteful consumption.’

Artisans Participation

Bharat Parv welcomes participation from artisans across the country, supporting the government’s Vocal for Local initiative. This inclusion provides artisans with a platform to showcase their abilities and unique craft. It also encourages local businesses and supports the country’s rich cultural diversity.

The event thus serves as a fantastic opportunity to enjoy and appreciate the depth and breadth of Indian culture, heritage, and arts. Bringing together participants from all corners of India, Bharat Parv stands as a symbol of national unity and pride.
