The primary drivers of landscape fragmentation include urban expansion, deforestation, and infrastructure development. As habitats become isolated, species face challenges such as limited access to resources, reduced genetic diversity, and increased vulnerability to environmental changes.

Impact on Biodiversity

  • Loss of Habitat Connectivity: Fragmentation impedes the movement of species between patches, isolating populations. This isolation can lead to genetic bottlenecks and reduce the ability of species to adapt to changing environmental conditions.
