Mahananda Wildlife Sanctuary
Mahananda Wildlife Sanctuary was started as a game sanctuary in the year 1955 and got the status of a sanctuary in 1959 for protecting the royal Bengal tiger and Indian bison. The sanctuary has over 300 species of birds.
The sanctuary has been entitled as an ‘important bird area’ due to efforts in the conservation of birds and their habitat.
